An eternal question still remains unsolved
'Child is the father of man’, or ‘Father is child’s guru beloved’?
A child’s mind is divine, pure and clear
When the voice of wisdom we silently hear
An innocent mind is a ‘sadhaka’s’ dream
That finds the echo of that voice supreme
What a child knows, a grown-up knows not
A child grows up in faith, an adult doubts a lot
Total dependence guides the child
May I , shall I …a grown up is always worried
A child knows his needs are looked after
Someone is always there, his guide and protector
Holding his hand to show him the way
He questions not whether he should obey
Whatever he needs, someone already knows
A little protest, but finally he bows
His faith is as pure as can be
A few drops of tears and happy again is he
But a grown-up’s mind is flooded with ‘knowledge’
Lost within his own know-all maze
Never content with whatever he has
Always complaining of God’s shortchange
All the gathered knowledge ends up in this
Something is always missing, he thinks should have been his
In temples, mosques and churches, one prayer he repeats
'Give me’, ‘give more’ in every mantra he tweets
He blames God the Creator
Questioning his judgement over and over
His selfish greeds are all that matter
'You forgot to give me this, for your mistake I suffer’
Our omissions and commissions we all but forget
Find comfort in blaming the hand of fate
If all of us could have a child’s mind
And see through his grace behind life’s pitfalls and grind
Serene calm would descend on us
Blowing away the cloud of all this fuss
How many of us love Him for the sake of God?
For our own sake only we believe in the Lord.
