A smoothy drink of spinach, apple and cucumber is the latest health trend. Following on from the fruit smoothy, vegetable smoothies are now the drink of choice for the health-conscious person. Juices that are more than 50-per-cent vegetable are seemingly perfect for anyone on the go. The doubters say that if you eat five portions of fruit or vegetables a day, you don’t need to also drink a smoothy. However, if smoothies are encouraging people to eat more healthy stuff – like vegetables – that’s the way to go.
