Buoyed by the strong Delhi results in its favour, the Aam Aadmi Party has galvanised its rank and file in Haryana to launch a 'Jai Kisan Abhiyan', to protest against the alleged anti-farmer land ordinance, and shortage of power and fertilizers in the State. Yogender Yadav, in-charge of AAP Haryana, addressed a large gathering in Gurgaon, where he said that the land ordinance passed by the Union government would neutralise many pro-farmer provisions that were a part of the earlier (UPA) Land Acquisition Act. A large number of AAP workers, who had gathered at the Kamla Nehru Park, later marched to the residence of Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, and handed over a memorandum demanding the repeal of the ordinance. AAP also asked the Gurgaon MP to oppose the land ordinance passed by the NDA government. Earlier, addressing the gathering of AAP workers, Yadav alleged that the State government had created an artificial scarcity of Urea, which is causing major problems to farmers, who are extremely dependent on fertilizers. He demanded an investigation into what had led to this scarcity in the State. Yadav also said that this State government had arbitrarily changed the rules regarding compensation for acquired land, which was an anti-farmer move. "The actual compensation has come down to half - which is gross injustice," he alleged. AAP also exhorted BJP to come good on its poll promise of hiking the Minimum Support Price (MSP) to 50 per cent over the cost of the produce. Yadav demanded that the State government and BJP should take their poll promises seriously. AAP activists from across NCR had come together to launch this chapter of the Jai Kisan Abhiyan, which the Party said is mainly aimed at ensuring that farmers get justice.
