Mukesh Sharma Pehalwan, the Independent candidate from Badshahpur who rebelled from the BJP to fight the Assembly elections, released his manifesto for the constituency, and asserted that if he wins, the first priority would be to develop Badshahpur into a world-class area. Sharma also took a jibe at the BJP candidate, and said that there are leaders who do not know anything about the people and local conditions, but have been given a ticket by the Party because of extraneous reasons. Sharma also announced a major rally on October 12 in Badshahpur, to show the strength of his voters and supporters, and said that people of the area had supported him fully during the campaign. In the manifesto, Sharma has said that the focus would be on spreading literacy and providing at least 35 per cent reservation to local youth in private industry and corporate jobs – which currently are going mainly to outsiders. An important provision is to ensure the security of women, and to empower them, said Sharma, because they constitute an important part of the population. "We want to set up an educational and technical hub in Gurgaon, with world class schools and technical learning institutes for the general public," said Sharma. The former BJP leader also said that he would focus on creating infrastructure, roads, flyovers and underpasses in his constituency, so that frequent traffic jams become a thing of the past. On the issue of builders, he said that they need to reined in, and he would particularly fight for the rights of farmers whose land has been acquired by the Congress government. "If I win the election I assure the people that I will only align with a Party that respects this manifesto and also promises to develop Badshahpur," said Sharma.
