Over a cup of coffee

We could travel with our words

The espresso shoots me up

The surrounding is a blur

Over a cup of coffee

We are drinking drop by drop

Thinkin’ lovely lady

Could you share with me

Just another cup?

Sometimes you just need a good friend, ‘blended’ with a cup of coffee, a happy hour mimosa or a piece of cheesecake, to get you through the week. That’s called Coffee Connect - a simple, fast and approachable way to meet those around you over a cup of coffee.  Coffee has been connecting people for centuries and a Coffee Meeting is the Swiss Army knife of networking. It’s a low-risk way to meet new people, swap advice and lay the foundation for a more substantial relationship. Tripti Kataria Singh, Pushpanjali Sharma and Sugandha Garg Brar make it a point to meet at least once a month, when their kids are at school. “Funny how you can live in the same city and never get a chance to hang out,” says Tripti. “Life gets busy, between kids, schools and work. Before you know it, spring, summer and even winter are gone in a flash. I remember the time we used to get together at least once a week. That was BC (Before Child)! We all thought that the Starbucks blend coffee, along with some cinnamon rolls, would make a great addition to our get-togethers. We now have great, tasty mornings while catching up.”

“A cup of coffee sounds casual, relaxed and friendly. You can amazingly connect over the laughs, surprises and insights that can take place around a simple cup of coffee!” says Radha Dhaliwal. “And it’s wonderful how many exciting new coffee joints have mushroomed in Gurgaon,” adds Priya Halder. “We work in different offices in Cyber City and catch up over coffee and a bite, at least twice a week. Coffee definitely tastes better with a friend!

“Coffee with friends tastes and feels real good. It’s a lot more than just a drink; it’s something happening. Not as in hip, but like an event, a place to be - not like a location, but like somewhere within yourself. It gives you ‘time’, and a chance to be like yourself; then, have a second cup...and talk your heart out!” echo Shalini Shroff, Bitty Singh and Minakshi Tiwari. They make it a point to meet as often as they can, to basically unwind. And what can be better than conversations over a cappuccino!

Chhaya Suri and Rita Mallick feel that a cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent. “We both love to shop together and eventually end up at Starbucks or Barista. We sit and talk and drink cafe mochas with whipped cream. We talk about the past, present and the future...we empty our hearts out and come home cleansed and refreshed! says Rita. “And the funny part is, adds Chhaya, “I’m not a coffee drinker; I don’t like regular coffee. At home I prefer tea and juice. But getting to share these beverages with someone special makes them so much sweeter! Going out for coffee with friends happens so much more frequently than a two week trip to Hawaii. Coffee meetings are pleasures we can enjoy and savour. it’s all about enjoying the small, mundane joys of life. We both look forward to our coffee outings!”
