Give our Children 'Roots of Responsibility' and 'Wings of Independenceí'

On the occasion of Independence Day, Dr. Augustine F. Pinto, the Founder Chairman of Ryan Global School, Gurgaon, said, ”Our freedom struggle involved great sacrifices. Millions of men and women fought with extraordinary courage and endurance; some at the cost of their lives. Among our many dynamic and charismatic leaders, Mahatma Gandhi played the most defining role in bringing the nation together - with his relentless non-violent agitations (like non-co-operation, Purna Swaraj, Civil Disobedience and the Quit India Movement).  He has been rightfully given the title of the Father of the Nation. The leaders of our freedom struggle were educated folk. They were aware of world history, and of civil rights and freedom movements across the globe. India has since made good progress in the field of education. Today education has been made available for all. However, even after 67 years, millions of Indian children and citizens still live in poverty and face discrimination – they are not truly independent. Educationists and leaders of our country have a special responsibility to reach out to them, so that they may experience true freedom and enjoy their due rights as citizens of India. Nelson Mandela aptly said that ‘Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world’. Truly, education has the power to facilitate human development, social justice and economic enrichment. We must impart quality education to our vast youth population, to equip them with the right knowledge and life skills. Let our education be comprehensive, directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and freedom.”
