The Institute of Apparel Management felicitated the academic achievers of 2013 batch at its 3rd Annual Convocation at IAM, Apparel House. The Chief Guest, Smt. Zohra Chatterji, IAS, Secretary-Ministry of Textile, Government of India called upon the Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) to double its efforts. Present on the occasion were Virender Uppal, Chairman of AEPC & IAM, Dr. Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO, Rahul Mehta, VC, IAM & Member, Board of Governors-IAM. In 2014, India has emerged as the world’s second largest textile exporter and seventh largest apparel exporter, with a 3.2% share. Virender Uppal expressed his happiness over this impressive growth and said, “Our vision is to establish Gurgaon as a Fashion Hub and institutes like IAM and various other apparel houses will be the backbone in shaping the future industry.” Addressing the students at the Convocation, Smt Zohra Chatterji said, “Year 2014 has been significant for the growth of Apparel Industry. India has the potential to become the largest textile promoter and to achieve this growth we need a skilled workforce to come from institutes like IAM. Apparel and Textile Export has played a major role in the development of Gurgaon, making it an Apparel Hub. 22 % of India’s total Textile Export revenue is generated from Gurgaon.” Dr. Koshy, while presenting a review of IAM’s major initiatives and achievements, recounted the journey of IAM through expansion and benchmarking in Fashion education.  “IAM is proud of its alumni who have made an incredible mark in the fashion industry. I have immense confidence and faith that the outgoing batch will carry on the tradition by using their innovativeness, setting their goals on becoming gen next entrepreneurs”, he said. An exhibition created and produced by the students from the Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing programs and IAM’s new interactive fashion website -  www.iamindia.in - was also launched by Smt. Zohra Chatterji. The Ceremony also witnessed an impressive and innovative Fashion Walk, exhibiting the collections of the students. The Fashion Show was graced by the presence of India’s leading Fashion Designer Rahul Mishra, the first Indian designer to won the 2014 International Woolmark Prize at the Milan Fashion Week. Addressing the students, Rahul said, “Gurgaon has come a long way in terms of Fashion; the city has all the potential to become one of the most fashionable cities of Indiaυ
