Heart-friendly Cooking at arttidínox
Chef Kandla Nijhowne, Runner-up at MasterChef 1 took a Cookery Workshop at arttd’inox, Defence Colony. She gave Live demonstration of heart-friendly recipes to the guests - who were esteemed (women) members of Rotary Club, Lion’s Club and Marwari Sabha. Only exercising isn't sufficient to maintain a healthy heart - one needs to eat the right food too! Keeping this in mind, ANISA Media Ventures organised a Heart-Friendly Cooking Workshop at arttid’nox. Chef Kandla NIjhowne demonstrated interesting recipes - such as Eggless Cake made with Flax seeds (rich in Omega 3), a Designer Watermelon Basket (filled also with Strawberries, Melons and Mangoes) and a heart-friendly Salad with a Catalane-style Dressing. “We live in the South Asia Region, which has the highest incidence of death by heart attack. About 25% of the deaths in the age group 25- 69 years occur because of heart diseases. In urban areas, 32.8% deaths occur because of heart ailments - and 22.8% in rural areas. It is therefore important for everyone – be it a child, an elderly or an adult – to consume something heart-friendly every day. My recipes include salads, fruits and cakes, which can easily be made at home and are rich in fibre content,” said Chef Kandla Nijhowne.  “The Watermelon Basket was something every housewife would like to make at home. It is a sure shot way to impress your husband and in-laws,” smiled Nidhi, a member of Rotary Club. “The Workshop was very informative. Chef Kandla not only showcased good cooking, but also highlighted the need to have food rich in protein and fibre,” said Seema, an active member of Lion’s Club. For Anshu Madhok, a member of Rotary Club, the most interesting part was the venue! “I think arttid’nox offers one of the most contemporary modular kitchens.
