Labour unrest in southern Haryana has emerged as a major problem in the development of Industries and the Industrial fraternity is deeply concerned and has demanded that the Government take concrete steps in this regard. This was informed by Ravinder Bansal, Chairman, Steering Committee of NCR Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gurgaon through a press release issued at Gurgaon. To discuss this matter, a meeting of the Chambers and Industrial Associations was conducted on 27th March 2014, in which the problem of labour unrest in the Industries within the Gurgaon-Manesar-Bawal corridor was discussed.  The participants were concerned that if immediate steps are not taken the situation will worsen. A new ‘trend’ of labour unrest by the workers is that they have started staying inside the premises of the industry, which is really a cause of great concern and may lead to damages of plant & machinery, products and other related materials and humans working inside. In the process they are often obstructing and not allowing people to work. If this is not checked, it may lead to a large-scale migration of Industries to other nearby states - which will impact local employment and revenue. All the participants were of the view that the Government should form a Haryana Industrial Peacekeeping squad, for prompt handling of such crises and the frequent ongoing labour unrest problems. It was also suggested that some amendments to the provisions of the Factories Act 1948 are required at the earliest.

A joint letter has been sent to the Chief Minister of Haryana, senior officials of the Haryana Government and related Police officers, demanding immediate action. More than 25 Presidents and office bearers of NCR Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Gurgaon), Gurgaon Industrial Association, Industrial Development Association (Gurgaon), Manesar Industrial Welfare Association, Udyog Vihar Industries Association, Haryana Industries Association, Chamber of Industries of Udyog Vihar, Gurgaon Rewari Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gurgaon Udyog Association and Mewat Chamber of Commerce and Industry were present in the meeting.
