Residents of Rosewood City have got an FIR lodged against the builder for allegedly threatening them when they raised the issue of their private park being illegally ‘taken over’ for the setting up of a power sub-station, gensets and underground water tanks. This also violates the building norms. A case has been registered at Sadar Bazar Police Station, under Sections 420, 406, 506 and 120B, and under Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. Dharmendra Jha, President of Rosewood City D-Block RWA has demanded that the builder should return the space allotted for the park and shift the power infrastructure to an appropriate place. “A number of residents in the Colony have been charged preferential location charges for getting their housing units allotted near the park,” alleges Jha. He also says that the builder should return the money to the respective house owners, as they are not getting the benefits of the preferential allotment. Jha says that the matter was reported to the Police Commissioner Alok Mittal, who referred the matter to DCP (East) Nazneen Bhaseen, who investigated the matter and recommended that an FIR be filed against the builder for violation of norms. The RWA further alleges that apart from poor maintenance and services, the lack of security is a major concern for the 200 families living in D-Block. Despite a rise in theft cases the number of security persons has not been increased. Even for maintenance, only one plumber and a few electricians have been posted. Residents rue the condition of the parks and gardens in the Colony. Jha says that there is even no Community Centre in the entire Colony. It’s time such builders were brought to book.
