Raahgiri has crossed the Expressway and reached westward to Palam Vihar. It was welcomed last Sunday by an enthusiastic crowd, which came in good numbers. The Event started at 0630 am, with a 2.7 km Run/Walk, covering the area earmarked for Raahgiri. The police force, headed by ACP (West), was present in full strength and managed the traffic very efficiently. Children of all ages were there in their colourful gears and so were the parents and grandparents. The pet canines were represented by Gabber the Pug, who was seen taking part in the Walk. Cycling, Skating, Badminton and Yoga were well-organised and well-participated. On a stage, many danced the Zumba, to rhythmic musical beats. When some of the participants were asked why they felt the necessity for Raahgiri, almost all of them were unanimous in saying that there was a need to increase awareness of: a pollution free environment, the health benefits of exercises and the need to wean children away from TVs, computers and mobiles - at least for some time. With the enthusiastic response from the residents of Ansal Vihar and neighbouring HUDA sectors - and of course the support of Gurgaon Police - Raahgiri has now come to Palam Vihar for good. We hope that this Event will be a regular feature and expand to even more areas.
