The Eye Of The Father And The Son

The Exhibition showcases the artwork of Hugo Cifuentes, who is considered the ‘Father of Ecuadorian contemporary photography’, although he dedicated most of his life to drawing and painting. He is also considered to be one of the most important Ecuadorian plastic artists of the 60s and 70s. Diego Cifuentes, his father, was a complex and complete artist, working in different artistic genres.

 

Postmortem (after Gagawaka) By Vivan Sundaram

Gagawaka: Making Strange, (2011) was Vivan Sundaram’s venture into fashion, where sculptural garments were made from found objects and trash. In Postmortem (after Gagawaka), mannequins and garments are stripped bare. Vivan Sundaram splices open inanimate figures; the operation table is a basic ply-board bench converted into coffin, closet, frame and support. A series of Postmortem procedures leads him to post-surrealist propositions.
